Mai Waifu

As spring approaches, Valentine’s Day is upon us, and even the most hardened anime otaku’s thoughts must turn to love.

Though some resist this destiny, I will not run, scream, or fight. I have always been of the opinion that the most important decisions are those you make in an instant and stick with for a lifetime.

Therefore, in accordance with time-honored tradition,

And now, for the waifu candidates:

Gia – She sings beautifully.

Jennkei – An engaging commenter who makes apricot waffles!

Erica Dodd – Self-described fangirl who apparently shares my sense of humour.

Anyash – The MMO-playing, bishounen-loving mastermind behind Emperor Chipmunk Wakamoto.

Usagijen – Highly proficient at Japanese, she graciously takes the time to show the ropes to others.  She helpfully self-identifies as a “future MILF.”

StringedsonataFigure collector and lover of intelligent talk.  Just don’t ship US/UK in her presence.

mefloraine – Starcraft gamer, yandere theorist, and fanart aficionado.  One day we must have a match!

Coldv – With her zombie-killing prowess, she’s like a Jane Austen character!

Honya-chan – Artist known for her “Yuri on the chalkboard” series. She’s got a family all planned out!

In closing, this Valentine’s Day, I must issue a heartfelt plea:

. . . Oh wait, what’s that?  You wanted to see 2d waifus?

Well.  I guess I’ll have to make another article.

Author: moritheil

One might be forgiven for thinking that Moritheil is a postmodern literary critic who started reviewing video games in 2001, and spent the early 2000s learning at the right hand of con staff and fansubbers. However, those rumors are spurious: Moritheil is actually a distant relative of Genghis Khan who stands poised to conquer the world via the Internet. Follow along at http://twitter.com/moritheil.

  1. meflouraine is a woman?!

My harem… nevermind I want to be able to talk to these bloggers tomorrow.

Actually, what the hell, I’m surprised so many of my commenters are female O_o

  2. Well, apparently I trapped Digi. 😀

As for the post…I am amused. XD
I did not think one post on yanderes qualified me as a theorist…but I will not complain!

Sorry though, I cannot marry into a harem. 😉
    I can play Starcraft though.

  3. Why am I not on the list?

Also, state of denial. It’s hitting hard on 90% of the otaku population.

Mefloraine: Polygamy is applicable to where I am in.

  4. Haha, I’m amused I was mentioned. XD And that the picture above me’s of Sakuya. I’m sure Sakuya would make good apricot waffles, though. And tea. Mm, tea.

However, niisama would disagree if I were to agree with your post, so have fun with the other…8 (or 7, now that mefloraine has opted out? XD) candidates! 😉

Honestly, though, I’ve always had the idea moritheil-san was married in real life…hmm. I wonder why.

  5. This post is beautiful. I admit I’m quite surprised by this, since the fact that apparently there are actually people out there that read Powered by Sugar still comes as a surprise. I don’t understand how it’s even possible considering how horrible I am with actually updating, and my co-blogger is even worse than I am.

But thanks for this rather creative shout out~

  6. I’m as lonely as hell this Valentine’s Day. No, that’s not accurate. Hell is not lonely, for it is both Other People and the final resting place of Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot combined. Never said it wasn’t lonely for the right reasons…

Maybe I should make an update of my FLCL review series, that will win over the ladies.

  7. Proof that Moritheil is THE MAN. No one is complaining that he wants to build a harem. Instead, he has a waiting list of women who want to be memebers. You sir, not only have won the internet, I believe they will be FedExing an olympic gold medal to you.

  8. finally read this post. You are AMAZING. Too bad I’m not an anime blogger heehee

  9. arara XD

Amusing to see bloggers (and other silent readers) realize that they got trapped after this 😛

    Was about to go “awww” when I saw the picture of Kaoru in her elegant and graceful kimono, then realized she’s more yandere than graceful… and I guess that makes me even similar to her -_-;

  10. @stringedsonata – No, thank you. 🙂

@Honya – I will be sure to check it out!

    @jenn – I wonder. But yes, that’s everybody’s favorite time-stopping maid.

  11. @Janette – Why thank you.

@usgaijen – I did spend a lot of time choosing the photos. But does this mean that I know you too well?!

  12. @onlyfr33b33 – You could always become one!

@Ed Sizemore – Thank you, sir.

@/tg/ – Hmm, I hadn’t thought of using Fran for any of the pics. I think that might make the tone of the article rather different.

@AnikiBillyH – It is kind of you to suggest it, but I can’t possibly screw your waifu.

  13. I have been browsing the web more than 4 hours today, and this is the best article I’ve come across. I’m a blog post fiend so I’ve actually read a lot already. In my view, if all webmasters and bloggers made as awesome content as youhave, the net would bea lot more useful than ever before.
