Yes, it’s that time of year again–time for Anime Expo! This year, with full press privileges, we are going to be giving you much broader coverage of industry panels, Shokotan, and, of course, our very own panel.
Without further ado, here is where I (Mike) plan to be starting tomorrow. Come say hi if you’re going to the same events and you spot me!
Day 0 (Wednesday)
This is press junket day. All press organizations get 15 minute private interviews with any desired staff or guest of honor. We plan to interview:
- Akemi Takada
- Shokotan
- Robot Chicken staff
Remember we only get fifteen minutes, so they won’t be long interviews. Any suggested questions are welcome, though I do have my own set and so it is not guaranteed that your question may be asked. 🙂
Day 1 (Thursday)
I plan to attend:
- 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Tokyopop Online Panel
- 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Shokotan Panel
- 6:30 PM – 11:00 PM: AMV Contest
Day 2 (Friday)
Our panel is on this day! Thus, coverage will be a bit more limited, and I don’t think I’ll attend AX Idol.
- 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Viz Industry Panel
- 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Bandai Industry Panel
- 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Anime Diet/Genesis Panel
Day 3 (Saturday)
Our busiest day. We’ll be stopping by lots of industry panels this time. Our ability to get Shokotan concert photos and video is dependent on the permission of the management. We will also be waiting to see if they screw up the Masquerade again. 🙂
- 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Tokyopop Industry Panel
- 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM: Shokotan Concert
- 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM: FUNimation Industry Panel
- 6:00 PM – 12:00 AM: Masquerade
Day 4 (Sunday)
No events really to attend on this day. I may spend most of my time at the Dealer Room for good deals on that day. If I have enough complaints I may attend
- 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM: Convention Feedback Session
Those are all the official things I’ll be covering. Of course, I will be continuing the tradition of interviewing cosplayers and line waiters too. If you want to see what that might be like, just watch last year’s coverage. I don’t think I’ve humiliated anyone yet. 😉
Anyways, this is going to be the biggest thing we’ve covered so far. I plan to post at least one update and one video per evening, so keep your eyes peeled. We’re going to milk our press pass for all it’s worth!
Heh, I’m going with my dad’s press badge *cough* Although I won’t be going on Day 0.
Perhaps I’ll see you there since I plan to hit up the Shokotan panel, and the panels for VIZ, FUNi, and Bandai. I may go to the Anime Diet/Genesis Panel or get seating at AX Idol. I’ll probably take something to my shirt that says like, “I am IcyStorm” or something @_@
I’ll be going all days…as an artist at artist alleyway. I’m pretty sure I’ll stop by some of those panels.
@IcyStorm: I hope to see you then! I will be accompanied by our erstwhile cameraman (and Code Geass blogger) Matt. My face is in my avatar. 😉
@Smashingtofu: will you be called “smashingtofu” as an artist, too? I may just come over to your booth and interview you. 🙂
Just looking at the site for the first time since your format revision. Is there any way for readers to look at posts older than than what’s on the first page? I can’t seem to find a link to older posts.
Yep, same name, I’m actually going to have only a few new works this year and its only my second time *both as an artist and AX attendee* but I wouldn’t mind the awkward attention : )
Otherwise, I’ll likely be at Shokotan’s, the Animediet/Genesis panel and possibly some other events, like the David Haytor panel.
@ Northern – hi there, I assume you’re referring to no “Next” button at the bottom. For the moment, please go to the top of the page and point at “Categories” button and a drop down menu will appear. As far as everything else goes, Mike’s going to be covering AX 2008 (he’s also the administrator of the site) so he probably won’t have time to deal with this right now, and I’m not the technie. Sorry about this and please bear with us!
Thanks for answering. The “Next” link does not appear on my screen, but that’s my problem now. I’ll figure something out.
@Northern: it shouldn’t be a terribly hard fix, actually. I remember playing around with the page number thing and having a bit of trouble making it look right on the front page, and that was why it was kinda left out. I should be able actually to get it up by tonight–maybe sooner.
@Northern: I thought you’d like to know that a page number navigation system has been added to the bottom. Hope that helps.
