Steve entered the world of voice acting by working in a mailroom for a low budget film company. While there, he heard about a casting for an unnamed Japanimation project where he would have to voice monsters for 26 episodes. But not even he knew that his voice role for monsters would be the start of a promising career.

Since then, Blum has voiced many characters, including Orochimaru (Naruto), Shishio Matake (Rurouni Kenshin), Tom (Toonami), Wolverine (Ultimate Spider-Man), Jack Cayman (Anarchy Reigns), Killer Croc (Batman: Arkham Asylum), and so forth. In addition, he was awarded a Guinness  World Record, on June 5, 2012, for being the most prolific video game voice actor, with a total of 261 roles as of May.
