Freezing 04 rulez and scares the lolicons away

BH:huh huh huh huh huh…Whoa…I saw some…titties!

BV: Where? Where! Where?!

BH: It’s…right there, dude!

BV: Whoa! Yeah yeah yeah…I see them!

BH: This is…possibly…THE BEST SHOW EVER!!!

OK. Now I’m over the B&B reaction frenzy, let’s talk about why I like this show so far (does anyone really need to hear more).

1. Awesome fighting action

Are you kidding me? I thought for sure they’d skimpy…I mean skimp out on everything, but when Satellizer is in a bath and totally naked, I mean you can just see her floatation device. but when these ladies fight, they mean serious business. AND CLOTH BREAKER REALLY HELPS. And it’s so cool that each lady stands her ground I AM FAPPING LIKE A HAPPY OTAKU in order to keep her beliefs. After all, that’s why people fight, riiiiiiiight? Forget clothes, there’s skin!

(Oops)

2. The pacing of the show works for me.

It’s obviously going to be a 13 episode series so everything is introduced pretty quickly. That said, because there is really not much to follow they really follow the manga pretty well and I read the manga (fappingly happy), I can follow everything. They DID skimp out the emotional parts where we get to learn exactly what happened to Marin and Ingrid in the past. Other than that, the show kicks nearly everything up a few notches.

That said, I HATE the Pandora mode here. It’s ugly and it sucks unless the girls are going to fight naked later in Pandora Mode and I wish they just give them the armored look.

3. It’s beautiful grown women fighting, which scares the loli-cons to tears.

What, you can’t face beautiful, well developed women fighting in an anime? You pussies! I feel that it’s great that we get well-developed (heh heh heh) characters fighting seriously in a girl VS girl situation. The tension is unbearable and the seriousness of the issues really gets to me. I mean, you know me. I personally like women with big breasts and nice body duking it out and beating the crap out of each other…

(Oops again)

OK, all right. Look, good fights, decent characters, easy on the eye girls showing you everything that men AND lesbians want. Plus decent plots. There is nothing for me to hate.

I LLLLLLLLLOVE T&A MATCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SEX! AND VIOLENCE! SEX! AND VIOLENCE!

Hell yeah highly recommended. You bet your ass Scott highly recommended. 20 (forget 10) pistol salutes recommended.

Review: Queen’s Blade s2 08 – really, it’s more worth than its looks.

I kept on noticing that the music actually puts a chill up my spine every time something dramatic happens (a nice pair of Sennheiser helps, of course). Although the animation broke down in a few places, but they sure crammed enough drama and plot into it.

As much as most people will utter: “It’s Queen’s Blade! Plots be damned!” In season two, plots do matter. After the last episode, where Shizuka poured her heart out in death and really made me shed a tear (wow, this show?), this episode is significantly less moving, of course.

The story about Airi and Lana is a little contrived and probably bases on anime character stereotype – after all, if somebody out there predicted that Airi would have a soft spot for a shota, then it’s not a real character trait but a standard anime character type. I mean because the show really didn’t show me any hint about Airi’s possible softside (yes, I must be relieved to see her soft side), I just couldn’t justify it being a legitimate character trait. I honestly thought she’d just walk away or suck his energy. There lies the problem with some of the characters.

There really wasn’t an in depth revelation to most of those characters and even for characters played by expert seiyuu like Rierie, who played Nix. I honestly wasn’t sure the exact character traits of her. The issue here is this: too many characters, too few episodes and too flashy (flashing, too) from time to time. Oddly, in S2, the amount of T&A is actually way down and I feel like it’s starting to make sense…well, like I said before, when female warriors fight for their lives, the last thing they care is becoming more and more naked.

Can’t say I was touched about Airi going away; can say that Lana has consistently showed balls (not literally, thank God). In this episode, he decides to help Ymir to better Reina’s sword. The main character finally gets that excalibur (I’m thinking about Artoria in Fate/Stay Night anime screaming: “excalibur!”).

Nanael…Oh Aya-chan, Aya-chan why must thou be playing annoying characters? Nanael was a sneaky chick but wasn’t that annoying because Aya-chan had a knack of playing her as not-so-annoying, but now she’s decayed into a big, fucking moron. In S1, she redeemed herself by fighting off the trio, in s2 she’s done nothing but being an idiot. Maybe that’s her character charm, but aside from the girly panties and nice melons, she’s done nothing redemptive so far.

I’d like to say “the plot thickens” but really, from here, it’s autopilot for me.

Queen’s Blade S2 07 – silly mixed with poignant

snapshot20091107225630

If your best friend is simply way too naive, so much so that it may cost his or her life, what would you do?
Yeah, it’s true. Maybe you should let it go. Let him or her suffer the consequences. After all, it’s not your life.
But it’s life or death. It is really life or death. You plead and you beg, but her weakness remains. With such a heavy load – a mission to save the entire country – on her shoulders, it’s simply unforgivable.

Shizuka gives up her life and let Tomoe kill her in battle. In older days, sometimes, only the death of one’s closest friend or family member can help one understand the seriousness of it.

The first time I heard Shizuka’s monologue, it was so painful, so painful. It really sounded like Nabame (the seiyuu behind Shizuka) was saying it from her heart. Knowing the fact that there is yuri love going on with Nabame and Ma-chan (Tomoe’s seiyuu), it makes everything so much more poignant.

Yeah, I know. It’s just a show. But for some people, it may be just as painful to see. Maybe there are people out there who asked and begged their best friends to stop dating that person; to stop getting wasted every night; to stop doing whatever the activities or to simply shape up, and fall into utter despair when the best friends do it again and again and again, and just can’t stop…

Moving away from serious stuff. Nanael and Airi have become pure comedic reliefs. Airi really, really likes her shota – hey, she’s found someone to keep her company and to make her feel good, that twin-tailed tsundere ghoul. All the more power to her. It’s so funny and somehow so touching to watch Airi and Lana interact. It’s just awesome to see tsunderes breakdown and turn from tsun to dere. Blushing, going naked from moment to moment dere. Superb.

There is a real human side to every one of these sometimes helplessly naked female warriors. But in a fierce fight, clothing do get torn off. Ah, I digress. It’s surprising how the amount of motivations and characteristics each warrior has.

All the naked boobs are just icing on the cake now. I can’t believe how much substance the writers behind this show pumped into it!

Yeah, I know. It’s just Queen’s Blade and it can’t be taken seriously. Then don’t read any further and thanks for reading this far.

Queen’s Blade S2 04 – Bet ya didn’t think…

That the pacing would work. Oh yeah, through the eye of this anime veteran, the pacing in this episode worked out just fine. Not only that, but they didn’t have too many commentaries on the side. When they shifted the view to a character outside of the ring, it’s usually because something important is going to happen.

This show maintains its high quality of drawing of female’s bodies and for you GAR loving girls out there, a well portioned body of Cattleya’s husband. But I’ll save that for later.

Most of us don’t like a character that preaches or shouts out silly one-liners all the time. However, Alleyne simply makes me smile. I guess yeah, it is because she’s actually freaking hot underneath that cape and that hat. She’s also a bad ass and fights just as well as she evaluates others’ fighting performance. An harsh sounding elf girl with some smarts and that body, she is definitely the focus of this episode. as faps are heard around the world, she fights her way to a near victory, but alas, silly butt naked Nowa loses the day for both of them.

I don’t really hate Nowa for it, however, because after all, she wears thick socks and is butt naked, not to mention she is a really inexperienced fighter not in the main plot. It’s no wonder that she’d lose! But that cute butt is a nice enough compensation.

Echidna is her usual sex-predator self, thirsting and teasing Nowa and that was intense. But the best part was the fighting animation. The people drew the stuff really put a lot of thoughts into weapon movements and clashes and all.

The script writers really did they job with pacing. As the fight between Alleyne & Nowa VS Echidna and Irma ends (with Irma acting like a tsundere), the plot goes on and thickens a little. But of course, because this is Enter the Dragon, female warrior edition, we come to more battles, this time featuring our main character, Reina/Leina VS Ymir, as well as some of our favorites, Cattleya VS Airi.

I personally find Lana not as necessary, but for a kid character, he’s not annoying, because he doesn’t say a lot! I think that’s a huge plus since I don’t like kids. Also, some people needs to see a strong mom-character with a pet shota. That’s just how it goes.

With some ties and entanglements played out, we come to the fights that aren’t really significant…Or are they? Perhaps Airi knows something about the whereabouts of Cattleya’s husband and maybe Reina, who holds the sword forged by Cattleya’s husband, will have some bones to pick with Ymir, or rather, the opposite is true.

In any case, I’m surprised the pacing and drama played out well enough despite being a fighting season. So much so that I watched the episode twice despite the low level of fan service!

Additional notes: How can you NOT love Kugimi’s show stopper singing performance? Mellow mellow!
