Warning: No pics – pics helped taking down our server too many times in the past 2 weeks!
Now, I’m sure I spelled something wrong in the title and therefore, nobody will find this one and read it. So, I’m just going to pretend that nobody reads this and just stop restraining myself. OK? Here we go:
Kaicho wa Maido Sama – it’s a mix-fest trying to get guys to watch but in its heart it’s a shoujo show with Kare-Kano dynamics rampant through out every minute of each episode. The fun part for a horny man like myself of course is the fact that Misaki is forced to wear embarassing outifts and even dressed as a little sister. What doesn’t hit the spot for this horny man is that of course there’s no skin – in fact, the only skin that I (unfortunately) saw was the dude’s. Oh and, of course I can’t be bothered to remember the lead guy’s name…Oh wait, it’s Usui. There. He’s the jerk-cum-nice guy at heart in standard shoujo stories of a sort. Done.
Angel Beats – when you fulfill your wish, you’re out of the game and I guess you’ll either go to heaven or you’re back to your own reality! Plain and simple! If they want to add the really weird Japanese twists, then I guess those who achieve their dreams become buddha or some kind of Nirvana state or some shit like that. That said, the plot is intriguing, the female seiyuus perform outstanding voice acting, and of course, I have no clue and not even a guess how the plot will turn out, right? Good fun, good game, and good entertainment. Next.
Durara – that’s right, I’m short of one ra but not short of one Egyptian deity…har har har har har har…That was lame. Part one or season 1 was fun and rife with good mystery lined by one element, and I’m looking forward to see the central element being revealed in part two or season 2 (remember a season used to be 26 episodes). There are many characters but we get to know all of them pretty well. The Otaku crowd in this one is described as one unit, which saves the writers some time in not having to flesh out individuallly, but all the characters are entertaining. Selty is a riot – a supernatural creature scared stiff by aliens?
Rainbow – God damned depressing. Not for this Otaku’s heart. Also, don’t care to see teenage guys getting treated like crap. Fujoshi all over the world have been having field days watching this one, I’ll bet. Nope, not for me.
Hakuouki – it’s Houko-fest with her playing as a cute girl again, thank God. I was tired of hearing her boy voice. Great story that unfolds and it’s gaining my interest. Learning about real Edo era (really) and having fun overall just seeing the conflicts, actions, and even the politics! Thank god no conservatives here. Oh and I didn’t bother to pay attention to all the bishounen in this one. I guess they’re the Shinsengumi or something. Onto the next one
Arakawa – WTF, it’s boring me to tears. If this were presented in a 4-koma manga maybe I’ll find it funnier, but slow pace, odd timing and tiring statements pointing out the obvious non-sequitor that overshots by a mile doesn’t impress me one bit. Do keep in mind this Otaku prefers slapstick, quick timing comedies laced with girls girls and more girls. This one doesn’t make me smile. Next.
Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou – there we go. Lead guy dreams to be the nicest and holiest person possible but shows too many tendecies for exercising torture and maim. My hero! And he gets chicks left and right. He’s way funnier than that guy in Arakawa, and he gets good looking girls. The variety of elements, plots and overall turn off your brain and eat it fun is right up my alley. Itou Shizuka’s Fujiko is hot and all the service and ecchi makes my heart sing. Of course I love it. Next.
Working – the manga, A+. The anime, C -. Boring anime that stretches the sequences out too long. Change the channel already.
Kiss X Sis – Incest banzai! I cheer for Riko…or is it Ako? Well, whichever that dressed as a hot teacher in the recent episode and is less sporty. Yeah, makes a huge difference here obviously all right…I’m still watching it for just all that sin.
B gata H kei – Yukarin’s lovely and this is a different entry angle (har har) of typical harem – instead of a guy with nearly no merits being chased by many girls, one of the girls is taking the charge and being the lead of the show. It’s Yukarin ero-kawaii power and because her role as Yamada is so cute, so funny and ecchi, I give this one an A+++ (hey, nobody reads this one anyway).
Strawberry Panic – what, I didn’t say smogsboard of this season’s anime, I said smogboard of recently watched anime. So, anyways. Strawberry Panic – I laughed, I cried, I sang and I came…well, no, this one is so pure that it brings a smile to my face every time, with my pants on. Lovely shojo having lovely relationships and no men. I’d be a butterfly in their secret garden…Wow. Next to Candy Boy, this one almost always has my hands clasped in prayer.
ef – a Tale of memories – …JUST DIE ALREADY! Shi ne, baka yarou! I crave a School Days – style doujin but instead of having them fight each other, just have them bored each other to death and then, the fighting aura of boredom would put me out of my misery. Amen.
Heroman – this demonstrate the reason I stopped watching shows like the Centurian and all. Oh, this also helps to demosntrate why Independence Day was only good if you taught in Japan as an American who was ashamed of GW Bush. Aliens that have no better reason to invade other than it’s convenient? Brilliant.
Sarai-ya-Gouyou – wow, plain but really interesting. About time we get characters that aren’t overly designed but shows mystery and motives. Good job and I’m watching this one.
Koi-Hime Musou this season – I’m addicted to this series from the first season so of course I’ll keep watching it. Of course my opinion won’t help your choice in this matter because I’m biased!
K-On!!! – It’s K-On! plus K-On! plus K-On!…Wait, I added an extra one (that may come out later anyway), what more can a moe lover ask for? Turn off your brain, deep fry it, and top it with cheese and service sauce and watch it!
I have problems with Arakawa, I trying to enjoy it but I just can’t to laugh at the jokes (Maybe I’m tired of the SHAFT style) and worse is the get same guy who did Zetsubou Sensei and Arararararagi from Bakemonogatari, problem is he has no voice range, every character of his sounds the same. I keep imagining the star guy as Gintoki from Gintama and the Sister as Adam Blade from Needless (Did I get it right ?).
I’m enjoying DRRR, Beating Angels and the “Sex Crazed Lady”™
Kissxsis is a guilty pleasure and Strawberry Panic showed me the wonderful world of lesbians.
Well, glad to see you’re keeping up with everything, Ray. Doing better than me anyways. So…
Kaichou wa Maid-sama: Yeah, I can tell it’s shoujo, but I feel definite pulls towards my maid-lovin’ tendencies.
Angel Beats: Plot, characters, animation, etc. – love it. Key Cola joke – got old the very first time it was used. Please stop.
Durarararara: Still loving this series thoroughly – can’t get enough (especially of Selty.)
Arakawa: …WHAT? This series is hilarious! I love the overreacting male lead! But fine.
Ichiban: Hells yes. Been needing a good harem show – I’ve been running low, lately. This is my personal favorite genre. As gravy, it looks like it’ll also feature my preferred brand of ecchi.
Working!!: Agreed. Lame. But I’ll watch it anyways.
B gata: YES! I’ve decided this series is going the route I hoped it would! Awesome, give me moar!
Heroman: I can’t decide if I like this yet or not. I want to punch Joey and take his lunch money. Heroman is corny. But I like the “American” environment – I’ve never really seen this portrayed in an anime before.
K-On!!: Moe, moe… Kyun!! And that’s all I have to say about that! 🙂
Strawberry Panic! is definitely a great one. The beautiful maidens’ world I want to completely immerse. Very utopic! While Marimite was very Taisho feel to it, Strawberry is very Heisei, 21th century, current, and heavily Yurinized. And the drama involving Catholic girls. Man, if this was real, I would have converted to Roman Catholicism right away. Virgin Mary becomes a Yuri deity in Japan. Maybe Tony Blair is a closet Yuri guy.
Arawaka is interesting to me, I lived near Arakawa, so I can picture it really well.
Ichiban is really crazy. How come Fujiko is so H!!! I can’t believe it. I screamed when she was onanying. And fundoshi! Panchira to funchira? New trend?
Kaicho wa maid, umm, always that kind of dude. The machoest man gets to talk to the Kaicho. Should be the Otaku.
B gata H kei, surely funny. And Yamada is really taking the initiative. The Newtype. That will save Otaku!
Koihime-musou! Yes, I would have moved to China if this was real. Chinese costumes are really cute. And its comedy is the funniest for me. Really really cutely funny. Kawaii and omoshiroi are united. I like this show the most this season.
@ LaMoe – Better Catholics story than anything else.
@Ehrgheiz – I’m bored out of my mind and I get plenty of time to see everything. We so need MOAR of B gata style story.
@Dood – I didn’t see Needless so I don’t know.
