Chicks and robot motorcycles? Sounds like a party to me!
After two episodes this show is really holding my attention. Looking at the preview and pictures from the manga I was very uninterested. Nothing seems to be really exciting recently. So I give this show and chance and I was pleasantly surprised.
I do not see the over used clichés or really annoying characters that normally make me hate shows. Now some characters are still clichés but they are not over-the-top. It was tolerable. Rin is a character one can actually like. She is not a moron, nor a caricature. She is the type of character that is finding her way without having to yell “believe it.” I am interested in seeing how things turn out for her. I will admit it I care what happens.
The motorcycles are badass. I was unable to envision robot motorcycles that did not look dumb. But they cool a little cool. The opening sequence gives a good idea about what they can do. The show hints at them being used as military vehicles. If it turns out that this show is more then racing and has some good action scenes then I am hooked.
The motorcycles (I refuse to call them ridebacks right now) are CG animation but are not terribly distracting. The jump scenes are well done and do have an artistic flair. Ballet on motorcycles is a little over the top but not something that ruins the show for me. It may end up being a neat little thing or it could end up being really stupid. The rest of the animation style is pretty traditional with a nice style. The characters and backgrounds are well drawn. The style is nice without being too cutesy.
I am not exactly sure who this is targeted to but for now I am going to keep watching it. If it is intriguing at all then give it a try.
Actually for me I hope it never goes into military action, unless maybe near the very end. The whole beauty of the show lies in Rin’s bike riding up against others’ for me. It would be quite ruinous to include some military bike action for her, though it might be fine if they showed a little from the GGP and other military groups.
