Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms TV Anime Releases New PV Trailer

The anime community is eagerly anticipating the premiere of “Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms,” set to debut on October 3. This original anime, conceived and directed by Okamoto at the Fukuoka-based TriF Studio, promises a captivating blend of science fiction and adventure. The series will be available for streaming worldwide on Crunchyroll, except in Asia and South Asia. In Asia, viewers can catch the series on Aniplus in Korea, Aniplus VOD in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, and on bilibili and Aniplus TV in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Creative Team and Voice Cast

The creative team behind “Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms” is impressive. Yasuhiro Nakanishi oversees the series scripts, while Terumi Nishii and Yoko Uchida handle character design. Nurikabe is responsible for Mecha-Ude design and concept art. The music composition is led by Hiroyuki Sawano, Kohta Yamamoto, and DAIKI from AWSM. Shota Kawamura serves as the 3DCG director, and Takeshi Takadera is the sound director.

Production and Streaming Details

The anime’s production journey began with a successful Kickstarter campaign, raising over $67,000 in 2016. A Japanese crowdfunding campaign followed, raising approximately $44,000. Pony Canyon announced the full-fledged anime series in September 2022, with the world premiere of the first episode at Anime Expo in July 2023. The opening theme song “VORTEX” and the ending theme “karma” are performed by Setsuko of Kuhaku Gokko, with Hiroyuki Sawano composing both. The project’s production team released a pilot anime video in May 2019, followed by an English dub. Eve performed the opening theme song “Ambivalent,” and AZLiGHTZ performed the ending theme song “Alone.”

Crunchyroll will stream the series and describes the main synopsis as: 

Hikaru’s ordinary middle school life takes a thrilling turn when he encounters Alma, an alien entity resembling a mechanized limb called Mecha-Ude. Alma, a member of a rare species, is fleeing from a sinister group hunting their kind down in search of one possessing unparalleled power. Tasked by the resistance group ARMS, this unlikely duo will embark on a perilous journey to save the Mecha-Ude.

Jeremy was first introduced to anime with heavily edited versions of Mazinger Z (aka Tranzor Z in the US), GoLion (aka Voltron) and Macross (aka Robotech) while growing up in the 1980's.
