12 Days of Christmas: Season of White Album

whitealbum2

Yes, Xmas season, when you go to Starbucks or Walmart or K-mart or any capitalist markets, you hear Xmas songs. Yes, SinatraNat King ColeBing CrosbyGeorge MichaelMariah Carey. Those romantic songs, especially Mariah Carey, reminds me of adolescence, all the girls I fell in love from my high school loved this song, yup, even Amuro Namie was a huge fan of Mariah. Every time I hear this song, I so crave for skinship horribly! But instead I listen to John Lennon’s Happy Christmas, this isn’t a romantic song, so I don’t need to feel ko-hi (孤悲= lonely sadness) or saudade or sehnsucht. But still…guuahhhhh, X-mas itself makes me uhh, ahh, what is English expression? In Brazilian, it is “estou morrendo de saudade (I’m dying of saudade).” That celesta is so depicting twinkle Snow! In Japan, X-mas is the climatic day when riajuu get laid. Some sad folks go to Soap Land (old Turkish bath) to ease their solitary night, but that’s just first-aid treatment, only emergency care. And of course, Obamacare won’t cover that. So, I go to 2D…

Yes, Xmas season is the season of White Album. Oh yes, I mean whole winter is White Album. The colder weather gets, the lonelier…skinship…

Moment of Animepiphany, or animepifanidad. Of course, twinkling snow at hot spring from White Album 2. Playing White Album 2 on PSVita, ahh, it’s really romantic. The music is so romantic and melancholic. And the art is really beautiful. Strasbourg snow scene and north Japan snow scene were, oh my gosh!!! But White Album 2 TV anime version…unfortunately the art is poor quality. For romantic anime, the art is really crucial to feel romantic. It needs to be beautiful, 2D must be ideal, but poor art ruins everything. Enough of ugliness from 3D world. Romantic comedy or rabukome (rom-com) can be more loose, but this serious romantic anime, it requires aesthetics as beautiful as Shinkai Makoto to express saudade. But the PSVita version, the art is awesome. And BGM, theme songs, leitmotif, just great…

And that particular song, Twinkle Snow, oohhh, probably the most romantic song I ever heard since SPEED’s White Love. Yes, “white” is snow. I love all beautiful girls from all 5 continents, but beautiful young female voice of Japanese language, ahhh, that really vibrates the strings of my koto. The lyrics makes me cry, this is my true tears, of romantic snow, I didn’t know yuki (snow) and koi (romance) go together this well…how I wish I had that romantic action (i.e., secross) with scenery of snow, trip to onsen in north Japan and take onsen together, wearing yukata, and then looking at snow from the window, and cuddle between futon, spending Xmas eve together…Too bad I’m in America where I can’t even see snow at all…And 50 degree F, too warm Xmas. Xmas illuminations at houses would be much more beautiful if snows. I need snow, I so miss snow! Snow can make everything white, yes, yuki-geshou (snow cosmetics). Yes, it’s make up, so it’s not plain like 3D world. It’s like another world I go to. That’s why snow excites me. I must get out of here, but no dinero, so instead I resort to PSVita in my six-mat room, immerse into white Xmas weltanschauung of White Album 2, being tipsy from sake, can’t help but kiss Setsuna, but can only taste LCD of PSVita, need to buy more microfiber at Target to sanitize PSVita…

Setsuna loves snow like I do.
Setsuna loves snow like I do.

I bet White Album 2 surpasses Dostoyevsky’s literature for sure. Well, Dostoyevsky novels are only words, so it lacks visual stimulations. Pure novel was the best literature at that time, but right now, visual novel is the most advanced literature.

Therefore, animepiphany moments of this year. The Garden of Words by Shinkai Makoto. That made me miss rain. And White Album 2, that made me miss snow. Such dry desolate weather of SoCal.. So, as Haiku has seasonal words, Garden of Words becomes a seasonal word for rainy season (or tsuyu 梅雨 “Japanese apricot rain”). And White Album becomes a seasonal word for snowy season.
