Anime Diet Radio is almost 18, which means it’s not quite legal yet. But that doesn’t stop us, in this first episode of the new year! We’ve got our usual mix of news (hint: panties, condoms, and Hello Kitty), mailbag, and roundtable of 2008, including Spice and Wolf, Persona: Trinity Soul, Rosario + Vampire, Gunslinger Girl 2, Mnemosyne, and Ayakashi. Plus, at the end…a special message from me, Ikari “Mike” Gendo.

I will be working my hardest to ensure regular releases on Fridays and Saturdays from now on. I’m still in the process of negotiating my schedule for this new quarter and figuring out a way to destress my life. Also, iTunes/AAC subscribers, I know there is a problem with the artwork and chapters, and I’m trying to figure out what’s going on in Soundtrack Pro that might be causing it. Please be patient, I will upload a version with improved artwork and chapters, and meanwhile, enjoy this episode. 🙂 Thanks! (EDIT: fixed the chapter/artwork problem.)

  1. Great show. Wow…Couldn’t believe I heard my name on your show. Thanks!

When you brought up wanting to see Noein, I was lucky have uptained the full complete DVD set in wide screen and 5.1 digital audio. It’s one of those Animes where you have to really pay attention to whats going on or you’ll miss something.

Beware, getting the complete box set in DVD wide screen could cost you between $70 to $150 dollars. Foe me it was well worth every cent.

I remember awhile back when you guys did a review on the Anime, “Last Exile” I have to say this also was the best. Very well writen too. I had no problem paying full price for the complete set for the HDTV 1080p format.

Don’t even ask how much that cost. hehehe But when it comes to buying Anime, I never know if it’s any good, unless someone does a top notch review on it. So thanks a lot guys for reviewing it.

Well the Anime bug bit me again. I got hooked on a really cute Anime called, “Chobits” (:P)~~

Yep, it’s and older Anime and has been around. I found it on a discount rack at some DVD store I visited and bought them. If you have never seen Chobits, then you got to get it.

The funny thing is, I would have never thought to buy it as I was looking for the complete set of Robotech. But after looking at the DVD box set and that cute looking anime girl, what can I say. I charged on my card. hehehe

I’m a sucker when it comes to cute Anime gals. (:P)~~

There is this one scene in Chobits that is so funny, I almost chocked to death on my food while laughing so hard. For those who saw it know what I’m talking about.

It was the scene where Hideki was trying to find the “ON” button for his Persacon. hehehe A must see.

I hope the Japanese come out with Persacons very soon. I want to be the first to buy one. hehehe

    Later guys. (^_^)/

  2. ~.~;

Jerry Energy indeed. I think he’s hopped up on something… go read Yuria 100. a manga, or something if you really want those fembots 😛 (I do too heh)

Anywho, hey Ray, I’m still sorta finishing up my post on Kiddy Grade. Look forward to it. :3

As for Ef, I only care to listen to the jap OP animation now. The storyline and characters were nothing special but I think in the audio department is where Ef shines. The visual “style” is unique, but hardly a great breakthrough as an art.

Product placement is a pet paranoia that I have. Although hardly anything is not funded by a corporation/special interests, I still dislike such blatant examples.

I’ve been rewatching Serial Experiments Lain for a philosophy/math class. I love rediscovering great anime series.

Mike: if you are serious about this.., “Gendo” moniker. You need to 1. get white bloves 2. get a nice desk 3. glasses and 4. take a picture with you in the outfit in front of a desk with the infamous Gendo pose. Then use it as a banner or something.

ACUTALLY, LOL. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (1st season) actually had a skit with following original works in movie adaptations. I lol’ed after watching The Golden Compass, a prime example of a direct translation gone wrong. Then we have the opposite case of Claymore… (I still argue the anime end was inexcusable. :P)

I don’t think video podcasts really help unless you put in video clips of stuff you talk about as well as yourselves or something… and it still would not be worth it. I find that video podcasts, although nice once in a while, have this awkward “mood” that is like a bad talk show where the host feels extremely uncomfortable talking. Video reviews are another thing though.

Hey, for the next podcast, why don’t you discuss some anime video games. I’ve only played one H-game and felt extremely awkward. 😛 I want play CLANNAD though ;D

  3. Another good show. Keep it up.

Mike, I really didn’t expect to hear “Systematic Theology” in an anime podcast and I would probably be the one of the few listeners who wouldn’t be bored listening to that.

Thanks guys for splitting up your anime watching again for this upcoming season. I have a feeling this winter season contains more sleepers that need to be found. With you guys covering a wide range of shows, you’ll probably stumble upon a few good shows that I may have never considered otherwise. Thanks again.
