Anime Diet Radio Episode 16–Spoiled Turkey in a Bowl

Thanksgiving is over.

[display_podcast]

Man it’s been a while! This was recorded on Thanksgiving weekend, hence the Turkey Bowl and the Thanksgiving references, but I was unable to find time to edit due to school, the plane not having plugs, and most consequentially, a family medical emergency this week. But here it is…our sweet 16 episode, in which we take on Death Notes in Virginia, Pizza Hut in anime, and Odex all over the world (snicker). Our roundtable “Turkey Bowl” talks about the year’s projected winners and losers, including Gundam 00, Claymore, Lucky Star, ef-a tale of memories, Hayate no Gotoku, Ghost Hound–just to name a few. And Monty Python references.

I wanted to include more sound effects, but I don’t have the time…it’s also my first time using Soundtrack Pro rather than Garageband to put this one together. Soundtrack Pro is a sweeeeet piece of Apple software, and it makes certain editing tasks so much easier. I’m still learning the ropes, though.

  1. 😛 Why has noone commented yet?

I was screaming “WHAT ABOUT RAKI SUTA!?” the entire time you guys were talking about other anime…

Yeah, they switched directors after episode 4 I think, and the series really fleshed out after.

Darker than Black was great, although I wasn’t a big fan of the 2 episode stories… Just make them an hour long and finish each episode properly. Grr.

This whole Death Note thing is a joke. People think about killing people ALL THE FREAKING TIME. As long as nothing really happens, why make someone’s private list of people they dislike a big freaking deal?

I disagree with your ODEX comments. Although there was no harm in it, the fact is, it really shakes up the people who received those accidental letters, and it’s an extreme violation of privacy (well, then again… claiming a right to privacy on the internet is LOL :P) and international laws. It’s a big offense, and ODEX should pay proper reprimands.

I find the pizza product placement to be funny, but at the same time, alarming. What if writers and anime producers start getting small requests to insert their products into their productions? This may start to affect the quality of the stories and may distract from the overall enjoyment of a series. It’s stepping on dangerous ground, me thinks.

Did you guys forget how Claymore ended? I still can’t get over the trauma! They really fucked up in my opinion. Thankfully, the manga’s continuation is much better…

Hayate is getting so bad. And like most other people, we still watch it. For a few shining moments that the later episodes may have. I really hope Bamboo Blade doesn’t degenerate into that kind of pattern.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei’s first three episodes were COMEDIC GENIUS. I felt so cheated when the rest of the episodes were so TERRIBLE.

G00 is just terrible. It’s fangirl fodder.

ef is so good now. And I owe it all to you, mike. Thanks. Can’t wait to see Chihiro’s conclusion.

Hey Ray, am I supposed to do something for this Sunday? I kinda need to know ahead of time, since I got a flight on Monday. Gmail me. kthxbai.
