Mission Impossible? Steal Haruhi and take her home…for some…um…film making…

Haruhi Hawks Japanese PS2 Game on the Streets

…retail chain has placed a life-size Haruhi Suzumiya figure on the street outside its flagship store to hawk this month’s The Bewilderment of Haruhi Suzumiya (Suzumiya Haruhi no Tomadoi) game. Appropriately enough, the Haruhi figure is wearing an “Ultra Executive Producer” sash; in the signature surreal style of the original light novels and the anime series…this is the first time that a life-size Haruhi figure has been out in the open public…

Ray’s Take: “Your mission Jim, should you choose to accept it, is to steal the life-sized Haruhi statue, and bring it back to The Daily 3 Headquarters. This mission is of the utmost difficulty, more than you could ever imagine. Should you, or any member of your I.M. force, be caught, or killed, the secretary will disavow all knowledge of your actions. This tape, uh, I mean, DVD, will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck.”

Mission description: To Steal Haruhi.

Possible opponents: rapid bunch of drooling, moaning (and groaning) sperm-filled male Otaku firing squad with their high tech tentacles from the Engine room. And Nagato Yuki (Yui Nagato).
My preferred Mission: Stealing life-sized Hirano Aya and –
what? I ain’t gonna tell you!
I'm a hardcore Anime Fan and I'm proud of it. I know so many things and I've acquired so much knowledge you wouldn't believe. But my love is anime. I've been drifting in this world for so long that I don't even know what an anchor means. I've seen so many shows that I've lost count. The only thing I'm sure of myself is that I care for the lowly and disenfranchised. I hate the rich and powerful and I love what I do, or what I can do. I like anime and I don't mind watching different types of shows. I have experience in different types of Japanese animation. I would be called an "expert" in a bizzaro world. One day, I'd like to start a revolution. I love the US, pizza, beer, sashimi, Chinese food, and steak. But I love freshly baked bread more than a well-aged steak. In reality, if I were born Japanese I'd be a real, hardcore Otaku. I love to love and I can hate strongly. I'm passionate in nature and I don't mind shedding tears. 1. Fan obsession is a dangerous thing. First you start watching anime, next thing you know you’re being lowered into a top secret vault from a ventilation shaft.

  2. I say keep it 2d. Bringing animated things into the third dimension always makes it look terrible, or at least different. It would be amusing, however, to see people looking left and right to see if anyone is looking and taking photos up her skirt. Oh god, I used the word her when referring to a figure.

I think it is a little bit ridiculous at how the makers of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu purposely made Haruhi into a figure of worship. Haruhiism is actually in the Opening song or maybe ending, or both I can’t recall. (It’s been a while since I finished watching the show).

Actually, now that I think about it, worshiping an anime character sounds like a hell of a lot of fun. Thou shalt not tell Haruhi aliens, espers, or time-travelers exist.
