Lucky Star: the Logical End of Moe

This is the commercial for Lucky Star. By now most otaku have seen it, and know that the one doing the MUUUUUUUUUing is none other than Hirano Aya, one of the goddesses of moe.

I keep wondering whether this commercial, by itself, pretty much encapsulates and represents the logical limit of moe–the purest, most concise distillation of what is usually meant by that word. Because when I watch it, even though I know it’s dumb, I start laughing and wearing a stupid grin on my face.

I guess I’m an otaku after all.

Handy tip of the day: play the embedded version on this page, and then click on the video to play it on Youtube a few seconds later. Bask in the harmonized chorus of MUUUUUs.

I am so pathetic. 🙂
