Code Geass R2 Episode 23– back on track?

ASSPLODE !!
ASSPLODE !!

So I liked this episode.

This is back to what I like most about this series. It is a bunch of mechs with two enemies dueling. It has all the intrigue I loved. Schneizel is a complete dick and killed Cornelia. Pow. Now we are seeing Lelouch pushed back and forced to come up with crazy moves that will save his ass. Blowing up a mountain was certainly a good idea. That is the kinda thing I love. That instead of just maneuvering with his soldiers he also used the terrain and environment to surprise everyone. Also Lelouch does not have the superior force here. It has always been important that Lelouch never be handed an important victory but that he achieves it against absurd odds.

If this was an American show then absolutely Nunnally will die. But since it is Japanese I am not so sure. Normally in any story when a character does something absolutely horrible for the wrong side they have to die. Movies and TV shows follow those ethics in America. Now Rolo ended up dieing and he killed Shirley. So this show may use the same thought processes and kill Nunnally because it turns out she is a mass murderer. Lelouch can no longer fight for her because she is no longer the innocent person she was. She is now just as stained as everyone else. True she was duped but she should not be so naïve.

Honestly if Lelouch’s plan is to turn everyone in the world against him then that is a silly cliché. One of the special aspects to this show was that you did not know exactly how Lelouch was going to solve a problem. So if we all know he is turning the world against him then it would be lazy writing. I keep holding out that Lelouch is going to do something crazy, fantastic that we will all be surprised by, but think it is fitting. A better ending would be for the Black Knights to come out of no where and win in the end. That they do something that surprises everyone and they are free and happy. It would be ironic for the Black Knights to do something interesting that surprises Lelouch but turns out to be a better plan then Lelouch’s.

  1. I’m First to comment? Looks like im gonna have to out on a limb here…

How did i know you were going to like this ep? I had a feeling u liked explosions and violence.

“If this was an American show then absolutely Nunnally will die.”

I would to call BS on this but ever since Deal or no Deal started i lost interest in just about all American TV. (ill save that rant for another day).

“Now Rolo ended up dieing and he killed Shirley.”

Rolo died to save lulu regardless of lulu being a total dick to him. Bloggers say that this was like a redemption for rolo killing Shirley and i agree.

“So this show may use the same thought processes and kill Nunnally because it turns out she is a mass murderer.”

She can’t help it. Schneizel can convenience just about anyone to do anything. Even a 10-year old “blind” girl. I feel srry for her that Schneizel did this to her.

“Lelouch can no longer fight for her because she is no longer the innocent person she was.”

    Didn’t Suzaku beg to differ?

“… Lelouch’s plan is to turn everyone in the world against him…”

He doesn’t really need them to agree with him. That’s wat Geass is for.

“A better ending would be for the Black Knights to come out of no where and win in the end.”

mmmmmm…. i dont think so. Without Zero they are pretty much just side characters waiting to die. (not like there going to but it wouldnt matter much of they did).

May my wall of text be read and blown out the water by some dip shit for years to come. 🙂

  2. T Hellsnova: I make that comment about American tv because a lot of American media still reflects judeo-christian values in a way. That is why in scary movies the teens having sex die. Why at the end of X-men 3 phoenix dies. generally once one does something that violates those morals they have to die. this is not meant that this will be what kills her just that people who do bad things tend to die. There are notable excepts but it is a fair rule-of-thumb.

  3. i enjoyed the episode… this is probably the first good episode they had since they killed off the parents. and yeah, i think it’s back on track BUT it’s too late since there are only two episodes to go. i feel like that the finale will be either kinda forced or just good. so much for epic.

  4. To Matt:
(srry if i go off topic)
As i said before i cant really give a reasonable opinion about ur comment on American TV or most kinds of American entertainment in general, (excluding some video games), because i dont watch much of it to start with.

Now if we take ur words to heart for a moment, we could say without a second thought Lulu will die because of all the things he did during this whole series.

But considering wat his brother did in the past few ep he could possibly die as well if not both of them will which sounds like a more typical thing to happen then Nunnally to die when she just got back from being “dead.”

Yes Nunnally could die in some way, shape, or fashion for some reason but it just sounds like it won’t happen. (But ive been wrong before…alot)
