Fall 2010 Audio Preview

[display_podcast]

Ray and I did an informal, unedited summer season preview a few months ago…and now it’s time for the fall 2010 one! In this edition, we run down almost every show in the order of Scamp’s season chart (version 1). We looked at trailers whenever we could and express our hopes and fears for the upcoming season. I, for one, am waiting for surprises.

Reminder: this is raw and unedited, unlike our much more polished Anime Diet Radio podcasts (which will return soon)! Enjoy.

Michael lives in the Los Angeles area, and has been into anime since he saw Neon Genesis Evangelion in 1999. Some of his favorite shows include Full Metal Alchemist, Honey and Clover, and Welcome to the NHK!. Since 2003 he has gone to at least one anime convention every year. A public radio junkie, which naturally led to podcasting, he now holds a seminary degree and is looking to become Dr. Rev. Otaku Bible Man any day now. 1. (Note: Listened to only the first 10 minutes.)
Ow dat chanis assen, can of looin duh pokkas. But oso mak duh pokkas kwat in-te-les-teeng.

On a more serious note: There is absolutely no restraint in talking about the fundamental, though less tasteful but probably essential element(s) of anime such as breasts and associating and identifying seiyuu’s and the characters with them. Though undoubtedly true: Musubi from Sekirei does have big breasts; It still pains me to know that such references have to be used to identify characters[musubi]. Surely there are -other- redeeming qualities or facts that a person can use to refer to a character? The most neutral being: “Main female protagonist”. It almost makes me feel ashamed, to hear *Anime connoisseurs* say such things. Surely there’s SOMETHING about anime that you can say to the rest of the world, to use as basis for a recommendation, other than your borderline sexual objectification of anime characters?

Perhaps you’re podcast is too informal for my tastes.

Nit picking: Dear author(s), please say japanese words right. With all your exposure to anime, surely you could catch the proper pronunciation for SOME words right? Let alone the intonation/accent/stresses.

  2. So, I finally got around to listening to this and, once again, I can’t wait for the new season to come out. True: there may be no shows that look Earth-shattering, but there is always that “surprise” for each season. Surprise can be good or bad though, now that I think about it… lol.
As a side-note: @Ning. Dude. Srsly? In the first clause of the first sentence of the article, the word informal is used to describe the podcast. Did you completely miss that? If you have so much to complain about, then get a refund from authors. Oh wait… they did all for FOR FREE. God help you.

Back on track. Thanks for linking the chart, I’m probably going to be checking out Star Driver, My Little Sister, Ironman, Otome, Soredemo, Yakumo… well pretty much most of them. Look forward to your reviews!
