This is our interview with MELL, the singer for the Black Lagoon OP and several other anime OPs, and a senior singer with I’VE. This is a revised version, with proper subtitling (mostly), and better audio. We aske MELL about her songwriting process, how she got started as a singer, and more!
Michael lives in the Los Angeles area, and has been into anime since he saw Neon Genesis Evangelion in 1999. Some of his favorite shows include Full Metal Alchemist, Honey and Clover, and Welcome to the NHK!. Since 2003 he has gone to at least one anime convention every year. A public radio junkie, which naturally led to podcasting, he now holds a seminary degree and is looking to become Dr. Rev. Otaku Bible Man any day now. She was bowing so low in apology but it wasn’t her fault that the plane was delayed and she had to move the interview a little later. I was like “no no, please don’t feel bad, that’s OK…” Then she offered us some food as apology and I was like “no no, please, that’s OK, we don’t mind. Please don’t worry about it!”
