My tribute to a character in Claymore after ep. 21.

Once she was just a friend;
Now a worthy comrade.
Once she was steadfastly strong;
Now brutally slain.
Disregarding rank and class,
She followed me onward.
Not caring for common principles,
She protected me from harm.
I now weep, for she is gone.
I could not do a thing, and she is no more.
I only pray that she rests at the side,
Of the one and only comfort,
That a noble warrior deserves.
May her soul rest well,
And may her spirit live to guide me,
As I trudge forth,
Through endless paths,
Endless days of agony,
And go on without you, my friend.
May you rest well.
Your journey is at an end.
But I shall celebrate our time together
On this land,
With a strong drink that will not make me forget,
But to remind me,
How you were like a tonic to a hurting soul,
And a comfort,
To a journey-wearied mind.
Let not a thousand warriors stop their wailing,
Let not a hundred noble men stop their cries.
For one of the bravest soldiers,
Has been slain and left us.
Only
Her tales shall remain in our malnourished hearts.

[EDIT: Thank you so much, Mitsuishi Kotono sama, for doing a great job playing Jean – ジーンを演じるすばらしい仕事をするために、三石琴乃様、そんなにありがとう.]

I'm a hardcore Anime Fan and I'm proud of it. I know so many things and I've acquired so much knowledge you wouldn't believe. But my love is anime. I've been drifting in this world for so long that I don't even know what an anchor means. I've seen so many shows that I've lost count. The only thing I'm sure of myself is that I care for the lowly and disenfranchised. I hate the rich and powerful and I love what I do, or what I can do. I like anime and I don't mind watching different types of shows. I have experience in different types of Japanese animation. I would be called an "expert" in a bizzaro world. One day, I'd like to start a revolution. I love the US, pizza, beer, sashimi, Chinese food, and steak. But I love freshly baked bread more than a well-aged steak. In reality, if I were born Japanese I'd be a real, hardcore Otaku. I love to love and I can hate strongly. I'm passionate in nature and I don't mind shedding tears. 1. Hi, this is Peter Payne from J-List. Sorry for contacting you this way, but I’d like to ask the webmaster to email me at peterpayne, domain name gmail.com.

  2. Hi Peter, the webmaster has just sent an email. Gmail is having hiccups so it may not reach you right away. Thanks for contacting us.

  3. Silvering – does my poem looks like it implies that? Well, that’s not my intention there dude, I was doing a LotR like poetry tribute to her.

  4. Silvering – aha! All of the sudden I realized what you meant (what kind of idiot am I)! Yes! At least I hope that’s what you meant.

  5. Heheh. Well, the next episode is one to look forward to–it will probably be the best of the whole season.

I hope MadHouse can pull it off half as well as the manga. 🙂

  6. It’s so touching…
Jean truely the most authentic array of warmanship and chivalry, she is not just a warrior, she is a Knight!
And as said by Silvering, who ever said she’d die just from a fist-sized puncture in the stomach I mean common! If Clare didn’t go down from that type of blow (see like ep2 or 3) then why should she?

  7. Amaya – 😀 You commented on the episode 21 post, and I quote: “When Jean died I froze. It was as if the world stop. I started screaming and crying like uhhh…. Mai I guess? Screaming no in japanese so loud and screechy I woke the whole building up (only 3 floors which is my family fortunately).”
Admit it, you thought she died, too! XD But yeah, I completely forgot the fact that Clare got punctured once as well, and she lived through that. Jean is a single digit Claymore, and awakened before. She would be all right, eh? But this tribute would probably be right on one day…Please, don’t anyone tell me anything!
