I didn't get much out of the themes presented in Ponyo, probably because the story and characters were bit too simple and childish for me. However, visually one could not ask for more from Ponyo. In another place, someone mentioned that Ponyo is a marvel of animation and design, not so much as a film, and I'm inclined to agree. For me Ponyo is an anime of waves and light, and Miyazaki's childlike vision of an ordinary world flooded in his imagination.
