Owen, my current plan is to be a minister for a couple of years after I get my master's, and then while doing that applying for PhD programs in theology and culture. I am definitely an academic at heart--I have always loved reading and loved writing, and my stated ambition for years has been to make a living reading and writing and teaching. But I also know how essential it is to be connected to people and real practice. Especially for the discipline I'm in, which tends to go sour and irrelevant the more it's cut off from the living Church.

My other dream has always been to be a published fiction writer. I've been writing fiction on and off for far longer than I've been into anime. My main website (<a href="http://www.imagria.com" rel="nofollow">imagria.com</a>) has some of my stories.

Excellent piece. Nothing much else to add, since I'm kinda flabbergasted at your C.V. and all, but I'm looking forward to the second part of this. What do you plan to do after your Masters, btw? Just wondering.

"Anime is just a branch of the mediums of TV and film."
Thank you for saying that. I think people throwing around arguments like "anime is sooo deep" or the opposite are pretty ridiculous, because it's just a medium. Making all-encompasing statements is as silly as saying stuff along the lines of that all movies are deep, or all TV shows are shallow.
