Kimikiss Pure Rouge Review: Is It All Right To Be Average? (75%)

The ending of this fine romance is either unsurprising or a cop-out. Is this show still worthwhile, though? Yes, mostly.
Kimikiss Pure Rouge 22 - At Childhood’s End

As this show draws closer to the end, I’m realizing that it maybe, just maybe, doing for childhood what Honey and Clover did for post-adolescence: portray its end with grace and tenderness.
A Kiss and A Tear: I Can’t Believe It’s Not Harem! (Part 2)

This is the second part of an extensive dialogue that Owen and I conducted recently about Kimikiss and True Tears, where I ask most of the questions rather than replying. You’ll want to read the first part, where I do a lot of the talking, on his site!

Oh, Mao. You were my favorite girl in this show. How could you have become so dislikable?
Kimikiss Pure Rouge 16: Cracks
Posted by Mike on 02 Feb 2008 at 11:37 pm | Tagged as: Kimi Kiss Pure Rouge
After watching the past few episodes, I think I figured out some of what makes this show so deliciously delightful to watch: the way it gets us, the viewers, to not only empathize with the characters but also, if we talk back to our anime like I do, vocalize the feelings that they won’t let themselves say out loud. But now that facade, that classic Japanese emotional suppression, is at last beginning to crack and decisions will have to be made, as Mao states in episode 16’s preview.
Kimikiss Pure Rouge 11-12: Awakening Emotion

If you were ever friends with someone, only to realize later that you were attracted to him or her–what were the turning points that led you to that realization? Kimikiss’s most recent episodes have been about those liminal moments where like slowly blossoms into love. And it’s wonderful to watch.
Kimikiss Pure Rouge 10–How Sweet it Is

I want to talk about one of the more restrained and ultimately sweetest episodes of this relaxing, warm-hearted romance. Mao fans like me sure are happy!
Kimikiss Pure Rouge 3–Confession Time

Having been washed of my sins for enjoying School Days as much as I did :), I now proceed to talk about a much more pleasant, innocent, and still thoroughly enjoyable show about pretty much the same sceanario (at least on the surface). And to make yet another confession: I have an anime crush on Mao-neechan.
Kimikiss Pure Rouge 2–The Repentance Continues
Posted by Mike on 18 Oct 2007 at 9:06 pm | Tagged as: Kimi Kiss Pure Rouge
Yesterday I repented of my initial thoughts about ef~a tale of memories. Today I repent in dust and ashes for my initial review of Kimikiss Pure Rouge. You are all right: this is a different show altogether than what I thought. It is still slightly grating to see some cliches but it is already coming to be an above average high school romance. It’s certainly better than Myself; Yourself, though even that one is showing some promising signs (more to come in another review soon).
Ray’s take on Kimi-kiss ep 01 - Somebody at this multimedia magazine screwed up his review royally!

Am I a cynic? You bet your ass I am! But this show isn’t something I want to be cynic about! Not totally, in any case, We have 3 main characters in a dating sim like show - yes, three. Two boys (not a surpise) AND A GIRL! That’s right! I read that the show is significantly altered from the game, well that’s fine, in fact, that’s more realistic to me. Very few people in life have multiple talents in sports, art, dating, and whatever else at the same time. How many times have we seen a super awesome main character who meets all the girls and his friends can’t get none…Oh wait, you know, real life is stranger than fiction…Anyhow…
