This is my favorite anime, EVER. I don't see why it gets so bad of bashing. Sure Louise beats the shit out of him all the time, but shortly after the serious started, he confessed his love for her, and he still flurts with other women. I'm SURE that makes her jealous as hell. If he confesses his love to her, then he should just stop flurting with other women. My opinion about her would probably be a bit different, if he was just hanging around them, instead of flurting with them, but no. He gases at there brests. and even looks up, and down, there cloths. And I know, that's him being a man, but we all pay for it, don't we? I mean.........I CERTINALLY IN THE HELL DO.

I agree about Kirche and Tabitha, and I can't believe Agnes usurped all their screentime. I thought for sure her role would be like Julio's, where she has some moments, but stays off to the side. Really just bad directing all around.

@clazy: look for my further thoughts on that show coming soon, then. :)

@rayyhum777: I pretty much agree. More and more otaku niche shows are simply stuck in a repeating loop of increasingly less believable wish fulfillment. They forget that to be genuinely escapist it has to be convincing first. Which requires at least a modicum of emotional truth to it.

@Son Gohan: Ah, that makes sense, he buys them time. And the novel ending makes a lot more logical sense, really. But yeah it seems the anime writers had other priorities in general, and the cobbled-together feel of this season really shows at times.

I mostly agree with your review. This season had some pacing problems and devoted too much focus on Agnes' side story at the expense of the war. They should have done a 24 episode series. There was just too much material to cover.
Saito's pacifism was slightly annoying, on the other hand Tristain's noblemen were a bit too eager to throw away their life in battle. "In medio stat virtus".
As for Saito "saving them all", IMO they mean that his sortie bought enough time to let all of Tristain's warships flee.
I heard that in the novels Saito was revived by Tiffania, but spent many months in her house, slowly recovering. He was later re-summoned by Louise with the Familiar charm. Too bad they decided to cut it short for the sake of ending the series on a light note. :-(

As far as I know, the average Japanese Otaku (MEN) aren't into blood boiling honorable chivalrous warriors and their tales any more (see Claymore not being one of the biggest hits on Japanese TV), Otakuism is about escapism. Take Shinji for example, he was the extreme end of the escapism spectrum but if one really watch shows about Otaku, a lot of the characters are really glorified "Escape artists" from the realities.
