Shitama: Hatsukoi Limited, the manga, was originally published in Weekly Shounen Jump, which makes it a shounen story--though of course that doesn't mean women can't enjoy it! (Shounen Jump happens to be the most popular manga magazine for both men and women in Japan.) It's understandable why you might think it was aimed first at girls, though; Hatsukoi is also mostly told from the perspective of the females, and is somewhat more believable than most. It's like how Honey and Clover was originally aimed at 20-something women, but it's almost entirely told from a male perspective, and very accurately too. (I lost count how many times I said, "I know exactly what he's talking about.") At the end of the day it doesn't really matter who it's aimed at--it's all about the storytelling, writing, and drawing, gendered audience be damned!

And, alas, Hatsukoi was prematurely terminated as a manga so it looks like there will not be more. Some of the characters could be even more interesting if they were fleshed out.

Is this really considered shounen anime? Because as a woman I thought that the story line(?) was directed more to females. But I guess they use the fanservice to lure you boys into watching it? That is their trick then!

Anyways, This is a fair review of the anime I think.
*and I did cry some and at the end* I really want more of hatsukoi limited!
